Tomorrow's Crimp Technology Today! | ![]() |
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:
APPLITEK is a leading supplier of crimp-related products and services to the electrical wire processing industry (i.e. appliance, automotive and electrical).Since our incorporation, APPLITEK has focused on becoming the industry leader in the design and manufacturing of high precision Terminal Applicators and Crimp Tooling. Today we are a respected World supplier of a full product line of terminal applicators, including the "mini-" and "die set" styles.
We have supplied applicators to process the "Who's Who" list of terminal manufacturers, including PACKARD, AMP, SUMITOMO, THOMAS & BETTS, BERG, ETC-MOLEX, SMK ARKLESS, STOCKO, HIROSE, ESSEX, INTERLOCK, GROTE & HARTMANN, AMERICAN YAZAKI and DEUTSCH (just to name a few).
In fact, in contrast to many of our competitors, our willingness to design applicators for this diverse market over several years now, has afforded us the opportunity to develop unprecedented technology in the design and manufacturing of applicators to handle even the most complicated terminal and carrier configurations. We supply applicators which fit most industry standard presses, both in a "bench" or "fully automatic" mode. Our applicators can be found on wire processing equipment manufactured by KOMAX, MEGOMAT, ARTOS, AMP, TOYOJAMCO, etc.
Most times, when we are asked to quote a job, we not only can say:
"We can do it."we can further state:
"We've done it!"
It should be noted that our main competitors are predominately major terminal suppliers who happen to offer terminal applicators as a means of selling their terminals.
Unfortunately, many of these companies only will supply applicators to process their own terminals. In other words, locking a customer into a "single source" envelope.
It was this specific scenario which spawned APPLITEK TECHNOLOGIES several years ago. We realized the void in the marketplace for a quality supplier of terminal applicators, independent of terminal manufacturing, who could design and supply applicators to process virtually anyone's terminals.
The principals of the company, with many years of experience in the terminal stamping industry, being familiar with the complaints of customers pertinent to commonly available applicators, entered the market with a "state-of-the-art" terminal applicator.
Today, the APPLITEK terminal applicator sets the benchmark for the competition. How can we make this claim? Not only have our competitors told us, they also buy applicators from us!
APPLITEK manufactures every component in our applicators.
In this way, we have full control of the product we ship from raw materials through our "state-of-the-art" CNC equipment for our manufacturing facility to facilitate precision tolerances, repeatability, and faster throughput.
Further, we have recently initiated our ISO-9000 accreditation program.
We have applied new technology to this industry.
We pioneered the use of high quality tool steels and other special materials for applicator components. For example, the main applicator housing is made of a very unique material which optimizes strength and wear resistance - two physical properties critical to the performance and life of the applicator.
Another example: we offer our customers "titanium nitride" CPM steels for crimp tooling which provide the highest tooling life available in the industry. Even our standard crimp punches are made of high quality tool steels, polished, chrome-plated, and then repolished.
This degree of care and attention sets APPLITEK far beyond the "job shop" down the street.
We have invested heavily in our engineering group.
As discussed in a recent article in the Sept/Oct '96 issue of Wire Harness News, we have developed sophisticated software that allows the modeling of every crimp shape before we make any tooling. We do this modeling on every order we process. Therefore, there is no guess as to what the quality of crimp will be.
Our propriety software also automatically generates the drawings of tooling components for our applicators. We have been asked, and have provided many of our customers, for a small fee, consultation on terminal and respective carrier designs with respect to the crimping portion of the terminal.
For example, we have been involved in some major automotive projects prior to the progressive die layout for the terminal manufacturing. Our software has been utilized to model the desired final crimp shape prior to embarking on the expensive, long lead time process of building dies and having to modify "after-the-fact" ...
The investment in manufacturing and engineering as well as the method we chose to implement this unprecedented technology has allowed us to maintain our pricing while simultaneously and significantly reducing delivery times.
Typically, deliveries of all but very special applicators are currently 3-4 weeks. However, we also offer our customers the APPLITEK "Accelerated Delivery Option" wherein for a relatively small additional fee, a two week delivery can be met (very unusual configurations may extend this time).
Every applicator we ship has been fully tested in calibrated presses. We ship crimped samples with every applicator along with extensive documentation.
In conclusion, hopefully the above has given you a little more insight as to who we are and what we may be able to do for you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Thank you for your interest in APPLITEK.
Sincerely Yours,
Bruce Getchell
